May proved to be a busy month for recruitment across wealth manager investment and business desks.

Waverton and London & Capital hires RBC Brewin alumnus as wealth head
Waverton Investment Management and London & Capital appointed Nick Hammond as head of private wealth.
Hammond, who also becomes head of US private wealth, spent nearly seven years at RBC Brewin Dolphin, most recently as chief of staff at the firm’s 1762 high net worth brand. He left the firm at the start of this year after Citywire revealed the 1762 brand was scrapped.
The appointment comes around nine months after London & Capital and Waverton joined forces to create a £21bn wealth firm. In March, Citywire revealed the merged entity was rebranding to W1M.

UBS hires Manchester head from RBC Brewin Dolphin
Bradley Russell joins UBS Global Wealth after 15 years at RBC Brewin Dolphin.
He will head up UBS Global Wealth Management’s Manchester and North West proposition.
Russell, who spent 15 years at RBC Brewin Dolphin as senior investment manager and divisional director, will focus on high-net-worth individuals and families, as well as business owners and entrepreneurs at UBS.

RBC Brewin Dolphin appoints heads of Birmingham and Belfast
There was also a regional rejig over at RBC Brewin Dolphin, with David Seaton and Emily Waterworth appointed to lead the wealth firm’s Birmingham and Belfast offices respectively.
Current senior portfolio manager, David Seaton has been promoted to head of RBC Brewin Dolphin’s Birmingham office.
Meanwhile Emily Waterworth (pictured main) has taken on the role as head of the Belfast office, where she will lead a team of 14 people.
She replaces the recently retired Kenneth McCaw, who was director at the firm since 2007.

Brooks Macdonald ends COO search with ex-BlackRock hire
Brooks Macdonald has ended its search for an operating chief with the appointment of Karen Charlery former BlackRock executive.
Brooks has been looking for a new operating chief since the departure of Caroline Abbondanza last August.
Karen Charley joins as COO after leaving BlackRock at the start of 2024. During her seven-year stint with the asset manager she held a variety of roles, including conflicts of interest director, deputy COO and EMEA head of regulatory change

Schroders’ Starkey reunites with Funk at PortfolioMetrix
After a restructure resulted in his exit from Schroders earlier this month, Rob Starkey reunited with former Schroders colleague Alex Funk at PortfolioMetrix.
Starkey joins the wealth firm as a portfolio manager, after four years at Schroders, working as a manager across its range of model portfolios.
